DAMRI, PPD ready for Idul Fitri<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Director General of Land Transportation Soejono
\nhas instructed all staff of the state-owned bus companies, DAMRI
\nand PPD, to properly serve passengers using their buses to return
\nto their hometowns for the Idul Fitri celebrations.<\/p>\n
He issued the instruction at a DAMRI terminal in Kemayoran on
\nThursday, while presiding over a ceremony marking the readiness
\nof the two bus companies to serve passengers during the Moslem
\nholidays.<\/p>\n
"If you encounter problems in carrying out your duties, please
\nreport them to your superiors immediately so that they can be
\nresolved quickly," Soejono told the assembled staff.<\/p>\n
"You have to serve them (the passengers) properly, especially
\nin view of the fact that they have paid a fare which is 25
\npercent higher than the fare usually charged at any other time."<\/p>\n
At the same ceremony DAMRI chief Darius Djana disclosed that
\nthe company had prepared 400 buses, consisting of 325 regular
\nbuses and 75 in reserve.<\/p>\n
In line with a special decision of the DAMRI chief on 22 Feb.,
\nall employees working for DAMRI, as well as those working for
\nPPD, will receive a holiday bonus amounting to one month's
\nsalary.<\/p>\n
Certain DAMRI employees who have been selected to be directly
\ninvolved in this year's Idul Fitri Transportation Program are not
\nallowed to take leave.<\/p>\n
"DAMRI depots in Kemayoran, Jakarta, Purwokerto, Central Java,
\nPurworejo and Ponorogo, East Java will be extraordinarily busy
\nduring the Idul Fitri festivities on March 3 and 4," Darius said.<\/p>\n
PPD's director, Soedarko, said the company would be deploying
\n225 buses from its 14 depots in Jakarta. (bas)<\/p>",
