        "content": "<p>Damaged buildings can be renovated<\/p>\n<p>TANGERANG (JP): Local authorities have given approval for<br>\nrenovating four shopping centers and a hotel which were burned<br>\nand damaged during massive riots last May, an official said on<br>\nSaturday.<\/p>\n<p>Tangerang construction agency's chief, Ahmad Basyari, said<br>\nthat technically, the buildings could be rebuilt.<\/p>\n<p>\"The owners have submitted technical specifications based on<br>\nconstruction research carried out by a team of experts appointed<br>\nby the mayoralty to the construction office,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>The buildings which could be rebuilt are Matahari department<br>\nstore in Cimone, Sabar-Subur shopping centers in Jatiuwung and<br>\nPasar Baru, Aneka Subur shopping center and Istana Nelayan Hotel<br>\nin Jatiuwung.<\/p>\n<p>Ahmad said that none of the building owners had plans to<br>\nrenovate their facilities in the near future, even though the<br>\nlocal authorities have offered free-of-charge services for<br>\nprocessing building permits.<\/p>\n<p>Possibly they were still waiting for their insurance claim<br>\npayments and for a return of security, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Ahmad said that the renovation of each building was projected<br>\nto cost Rp 2 billion to Rp 6 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Two other buildings burned and damaged during the riots,<br>\nCiledug Plaza in Ciledug and Ramayana department store in Cimone,<br>\nhad collapsed. The Ciledug Plaza collapsed due to severe<br>\nruination, while the Ramayana department store was demolished by<br>\nits owner. (41\/ivy)<\/p>",
