JAKARTA \u2014 Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak\nhas revealed that around 400,000 records out of a total of 5.7 million\nhajj queue entries currently undergoing updating are invalid.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo there are invalid records found among the 5.7 million queue\nentries \u2014 around 400,000 are invalid, meaning the queue will be\nreduced,\u201d Dahnil said in Jakarta on Monday (14\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
He said the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is still carrying out more\ndetailed data collection on these records. With the updating process,\nthe administrative waiting period for hajj, currently recorded at an\naverage of 26 years, could in fact become shorter in practice.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd in reality, the waiting time for prospective pilgrims could be\nshorter, averaging 14-15 years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He explained that before the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah was\nestablished, the national hajj waiting period was said to reach an\naverage of 49 years.<\/p>\n
On the instructions of President Prabowo Subianto, the Ministry of\nHajj and Umrah then carried out various data improvement and governance\nefforts to cut the waiting period.<\/p>\n
