        "content": "<p>Daewoo's aluminum project<\/p>\n<p>HANOI (AFP): South Korean chaebol Daewoo Corp. is considering<br>\ninvesting in a one-billion-dollar integrated aluminum casting<br>\nproject in Vietnam's Central Highlands, a company representative<br>\nsaid Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Daewoo had signed a letter of intent with state-owned Vietnam<br>\nMinerals Corp. to conduct a survey of two bauxite reserves in<br>\nDaklak, she said.<\/p>\n<p>While Vietnam is extremely rich in bauxite with estimated<br>\nreserves of 6.5 billion tons reportedly accounting for more than<br>\n16 percent of the world's supply, the mineral is located in a<br>\nremote mountainous area.<\/p>\n<p>Daewoo must contemplate an ambitious plan that would<br>\nincorporate a new power plant and upgrading transport links from<br>\nthe mountainous area some 200 kilometers (125 miles) from Ho Chi<br>\nMinh City.<\/p>",
