        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2014 The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kementerian\nLuar Negeri, Kemlu) has said that Indonesia, as chair of the Developing\nEight (D-8), continues to push for de-escalation to prevent the conflict\nbetween Iran and the United States and Israel from widening. \u2018As D-8\nChair, RI also continues to stress the importance of de-escalation and\nurges all parties to exercise restraint,\u2019 said Ministry spokesperson\nYvonne Mewengkang at a media briefing in Jakarta on Friday. Yvonne said\nthat Indonesia consistently maintains communication with all other D-8\nmembers, particularly regarding the dynamics of the situation currently\nunfolding.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, regarding preparations for the D-8 Summit in Jakarta in\nApril, she stated that preparations for the agenda are proceeding in\nline with plan. \u2018To date, Indonesia continues to undertake the necessary\npreparations and remains in communication with all D-8 members,\u2019 she\nadded.<\/p>\n<p>The D-8 is an economic cooperation organisation of developing\ncountries comprising Indonesia, Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Malaysia,\nNigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey. Azerbaijan became the newest member of\nD-8 in December 2024.<\/p>\n<p>As the apex of its chairmanship, Indonesia will host the 12th D-8\nSummit in Jakarta in April 2026, to be preceded by a meeting of senior\nofficials and a meeting of foreign ministers.<\/p>\n<p>The D-8 Summit carries the theme \u2018Navigating Global Shifts:\nStrengthening Equality, Solidarity, and Cooperation for Shared\nProsperity.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018With regard to D-8, we would like this important organisation to\nstand firmly and clearly condemn the attack that occurred by the United\nStates and Israel against our country,\u2019 said Ambassador Boroujerdi at a\npress conference at the Iranian ambassador\u2019s official residence in\nJakarta on Monday, March 2. Ambassador Boroujerdi hopes that the D-8\norganisation can stand on the right side of history and issue a serious\ncondemnatory statement against the attack that has occurred in Iran.<\/p>",
