Cybercrime verdict postponed again<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Central Jakarta District Court failed to
\nhand down a verdict for the second time on Thursday in the
\ncybercrime case involving Tjandra Sugiono, a former manager of
\nlocal cosmetics giant PT Martina Berto.<\/p>\n
Judge Chasiany R. Tandjung said on Thursday that the trial had
\nbeen adjourned until next week so as to give an opportunity for
\nother witnesses to be called.<\/p>\n
The court was scheduled to hand down its verdict two weeks
\nago, but decided to postpone it by two weeks because the panel of
\njudges trying the case had failed to reached a unanimous
\ndecision.<\/p>\n
Tjandra allegedly registered the domain name MustikaRatu.com
\nfor PT Martina Berto, the main competitor of PT Mustika Ratu.<\/p>\n
During Thursday's hearing, the court presented Edmon Makarim,
\na cyber law expert from the University of Indonesia, who said
\nthat a case of cybercrime could be brought before the courts in
\nthe country where the crime occurred or where the server was
\nlocated.<\/p>\n
But he admitted that the plaintiff and the accused involved in
\na case of cybercrime would most likely resolve their differences
