Customs sued in Cirebon<\/p>\n
CIREBON, West Java: The Cirebon branch of sea freight
\nforwarder PT Djakarta Lloyd has recently sued a number of
\nofficials from the Customs and Excise Service, including its
\ndirector Permana Agung, for allegedly inflicting material and
\nnon-material losses on the company, branch director Idris A.S.
\nsaid on Monday.<\/p>\n
Idris added that the company was also seriously considering
\nlaunching a million-dollar lawsuit against the Customs and Excise
\nService in the Cirebon District Court.<\/p>\n
He explained that earlier this year two of the company's
\ncontainers, which carried two Mercedes Benzes, a Toyota Land
\nCruiser and a Jaguar, were forcibly opened by Customs and Excise
\nofficials without the necessary papers, thus causing material
\ndamage considering that the vehicles were brand new, imported
\nluxury cars and were confiscated as evidence for further
\ninvestigation.<\/p>\n
\"The non-material losses arise from the fact that our
\ncustomers trust us less since the incident and, of course, the
\ndeath of one of our company's best employees, Priyatmono, who was
\ninterrogated and questioned for hours by customs officials.
\nUnfortunately, he could not take the pressure,\" Idris said.<\/p>\n
\"He was last questioned on Feb. 16 this year. Shortly after,
\nhe was admitted to the hospital and he passed away on March 1.\"<\/p>\n
Idris said he was also going to file a defamation complaint
\nagainst customs officials, whom he said had ruined his chances of
\nbeing appointed a director of the company due to the incident.
