So we still\nneed time to trace who the perpetrators are and so on,\u2019 he said at a\npress conference at the Tanjung Priok Port Customs office on Wednesday 4\nMarch 2026. He explained that in the Export Declaration (PEB) documents,\nthe export destination lists Cambodia, but they are still examining the\nexporter who filed the documents. Adhang noted that, based on initial\ntracing, the company is new to exporting. \u2018So, for information about\nwhere the goods originated, it is not yet specific. But generally,\npangolins are distributed in tropical rainforest and lowland areas in\nSoutheast Asia,\u2019 he said. The BKSDA will check reports from other\ndistrict offices to see if there have been reports of pangolins\ndisappearing from ecosystems. \u2018We in Jakarta do not have habitats for\npangolins, but this is a gateway for trade\u2014both an exit and entry\npoint,\u2019 he added. Adhang said the illegal export\nof protected wildlife began when Customs analysed the container scans.\n\u2018We conducted an analysis of the Pemberitahuan Ekspor Barang (PEB)\nreported by PT TSR. The declaration included two items: Sea Cucumber and\nInstant Noodles. However, three sections were found, suggesting some\ngoods were not declared in the export,\u2019 he said during the press\nconference at Bea Cukai Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok on Wednesday 4 March\n2026. From the container inspection on Wednesday 18 February 2026, the\nfront section was filled with instant noodle cartons, while the back\ncontained 99 cartons of pangolin scales. Adhang explained that pangolin\nscales are believed to have a sale value of around Rp60 million per\nkilogram. \u2018The 3,053 kilograms of pangolin scales have an estimated\nvalue of around Rp60 million per kilogram, resulting in a total value of\nabout Rp183 billion,\u2019 he stated. The findings were coordinated with the\nBKSDA Jakarta for identification.
