The head of the Monitoring of Impunity Division at the Commission for\nthe Disappeared and Victims of Violence, Jane Rosalina, stated that\ndoctors at Dr Cipto Mangunkusumo National General Hospital (RSCM) in\nJakarta have treated the inflammatory reaction caused by acid to the\neyes of Andrie Yunus, Vice Coordinator of Kontras. Andrie remains\nhospitalised following the operation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was anticipated and addressed by the hospital,\u201d Jane said at\nthe YLBHI office in Jakarta on Monday, 16 March 2026.<\/p>\n
Jane stated that RSCM will conduct further medical procedures on\nAndrie to address skin and other body parts affected by acid exposure.\n\u201cHowever, that will be confirmed by the hospital,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Andrie\u2019s current condition is stable. He is receiving intensive care\nin the High Care Unit (HCU). Jane could not confirm the duration of his\ntreatment.<\/p>\n
Jane drew a comparison with similar treatment previously undergone by\nNovel Baswedan. Treating Novel\u2019s eyes and skin required months of care.\nShe called on the public to pray for Andrie\u2019s swift recovery and return\nto his activities.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, 14 March 2026, Jane stated that Andrie Yunus sustained\napproximately 24 per cent burns after being doused with acid by an\nunknown person. Andrie underwent eye surgery at RSCM.<\/p>\n
Andrie was attacked by two unknown individuals on Thursday evening,\n12 March 2026, at approximately 23:37 Western Indonesia Time on Jalan\nSalemba I Talang, Central Jakarta. He was returning home after recording\na podcast at the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) office on the\ntopic of \u201cRemilitarisation and Judicial Review of the Military Law\u201d.<\/p>\n
The assailants reportedly rode a motorscooter and doused the victim\nwith acid before fleeing.<\/p>\n
Previously, the Coordinating Minister of Law, Human Rights,\nImmigration and Correctional Affairs, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, suggested\nthat the attack on Andrie followed an organised pattern.<\/p>\n
According to Yusril, the attack pattern indicates possible planning,\nmeaning the investigation must extend beyond the field operatives.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe attack pattern appears planned and organised, so the\ninvestigation of this incident must not stop at the executor level, but\nmust also reveal the intellectual actors behind it,\u201d Yusril said in a\nwritten statement on Friday, 13 March 2026.<\/p>\n
He requested law enforcement, particularly the National Police, to\nthoroughly investigate the case to identify those behind the attack.<\/p>\n

Yusril stated he had coordinated with investigators at the Metro Jaya\nRegional Police and the National Police Criminal Investigation\nDirectorate, who continue to investigate the case.
