Curfew-breaking athlete warned<\/p>\n

The 22nd SEA Games gold medalist Jenny Zeannet said that she
\nwas disappointed that the Indonesian Karate-Do Association
\n(Forki) had given her a warning for violating team rules.<\/p>\n
Jenny, the 53-kilogram fighter, is said to have frequently
\ndisobeyed the athlete's curfew of 9:30 p.m every night and is
\noften absent during mealtime.<\/p>\n
For her disobedience, Jenny could have even been dropped from
\nthe elite Indonesia Awakens (IA) development program. But at the
\nrecent meeting the Forki and the National Sports Council (KONI)
\nmembers decided the karate athlete would just be given a warning
\nletter.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, Jenny still voiced her disappointment, saying
\nthat Forki officials should have spoken to her directly instead
\nof issuing the formal reprimand.<\/p>\n
Jenny admitted that she arrived back at the Century Park
\nHotel, the athletes' official residence, after curfew on at least
\nthree occasions, but said that she had no idea lateness could
\ncost someone their place in the national development program.<\/p>\n
\"The coach should have told me first instead of giving me a
\nwarning letter. Besides, I never knew that such a small thing
\ncould exclude me from the IA. If I had known, I would have been
\nmore careful,\" she said here on Friday.<\/p>\n
Jenny is one of nine karatekas and 36 other Indonesian
\nhopefuls from 12 sports currently undergoing an intense training
\ncamp under the IA program.<\/p>\n
The IA program aims to improve Indonesia's performances in
\ninternational competitions with the main target of looking to win
\n10 gold medals at the 2006 Asian Games.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Track and Field Association (PASI)
\nhas submitted four candidates to replace dismissed pole vaulter
\nNi Putu Desi Margawati, the reigning Southeast Asian Games pole
\nvault champion.<\/p>\n
The candidates are Erni Ulatningsih and Ferry Subnaveu
\n(women's marathon), Oliva Sadi (women's 1,500 meters) and
\nDjauhari Johan (men's 10,000 meters).<\/p>\n
Desi has been eliminated from the program apparently because
\nthe SEA Games gold medalist had not been \"serious\" in training,
\nbut she denied that.<\/p>\n
She said that she did not want to continue in the IA program
\nbecause her mentor Hadi Wacono was not included on the coaching
\nstaff.<\/p>\n
PASI Secretary-General Tigor Tanjung said that they would
\nconsider hiring Hadi and give Desi a second chance to return to
\nthe program after the National Games (PON) in Palembang, South
\nSumatra, in September.<\/p>",
