This effort is aimed at reducing the carbon footprint\nwhile enhancing operational efficiency amid the high demand for goods\ndistribution in Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>PT Sinarniaga Sejahtera (SNS), Garudafood\u2019s distribution unit, has\nbegun testing the use of electric vehicles as part of this strategy. The\ntrial of electric trucks is being conducted for distributing goods from\ndepots to retailers as an alternative to fossil fuel-based fleets.<\/p>\n<p>Garudafood Director and SNS Managing Director Ruli Tobing stated that\nthis step is part of adapting the distribution model to sustainability\ndemands. \u201cDigitalisation is not just about operational efficiency; it is\nSNS\u2019s way of ensuring that every business partner has equal access to\nservices and products,\u201d Ruli said during a public lecture at Diponegoro\nUniversity, Semarang, based on a press release on Sunday\n(19\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The trial results show that electric vehicle fleets can reduce fuel\nconsumption by up to 46 per cent and lower carbon emissions by around 56\nper cent compared to conventional fleets on the same routes. These\nfindings serve as the basis for evaluating gradual programme\ndevelopment.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to environmental aspects, the distribution transformation\nis also being carried out through the integration of digital technology.\nSNS has developed an app-based ordering system called Sales Assistant\nMobile (SAM) and the digital distribution platform BarangKulakan to\nexpand market access to small-scale retailers.<\/p>\n<p>Ruli stated that distribution is no longer entirely dependent on\nphysical fleets but is shifting to a more integrated system between\nlogistics networks and digital platforms. This is considered essential\nfor reaching a broad market while improving supply chain efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, SNS\u2019s distribution network serves more than 350,000\noutlets across various channels, from traditional markets to modern\nones.
