        "content": "<p>Indonesia\u2019s government continues to strive to strengthen cultural\ncooperation with Kazakhstan. The move forms part of Indonesia\u2019s cultural\ndiplomacy on the global stage.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed by Culture Minister Fadli Zon when he met with\nAmbassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of\nIndonesia to the Republic of Kazakhstan, who also serves as Ambassador\nto Tajikistan, Mochamad Fadjroel Rachman, at the Ministry of Culture in\nJakarta on Tuesday (3 March 2026).<\/p>\n<p>The meeting discussed several strategic agendas, including plans for\na cultural forum during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev\u2019s visit to\nIndonesia, collaboration in strengthening traditional silat, cooperation\nin film and performances, cooperation in museums, and strengthening\nmemoranda of cooperation in the field of culture.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, Ambassador Fadjroel conveyed the plan for\nPresident Tokayev\u2019s visit to Indonesia scheduled for July. The state\nvisit is currently in the coordination stage, including discussions at\nthe level of the foreign ministries of both countries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBesides the political forum and business forum, a cultural forum\nfeaturing collaborative Indonesia-Kazakhstan art performances is also\nplanned,\u201d Fadjroel explained.<\/p>\n<p>Ambassador Fadjroel added that Kazakhstan has a strong tradition in\nperforming arts, including singing during state visits. He hopes the\nplanned cultural forum will also involve local governments to present\nart performances that are representative and distinctive.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Fadli Zon welcomed the enthusiastic plans for\ncollaboration with Kazakhstan, particularly in the cultural field. He\nstressed that this cooperation could become a showcase for Indonesia\u2019s\ncultural diplomacy on the international stage.<\/p>\n<p>Fadli Zon also stated readiness to support the cultural forum by\nmapping the venues for the performances. As a concrete step, the two\nsides also discussed plans to sign a memorandum of cooperation between\nministries in the field of culture during President Tokayev\u2019s visit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCooperation is also mapped in the development of pencak silat. This\nis based on the rapid development of silat in Kazakhstan as a sports\nbranch that has recorded numerous outstanding achievements in several\nworld championships. This potential is expected to be expanded not only\nin the sporting aspect but also in the arts and traditions dimension,\u201d\nsaid Fadli Zon in a written statement, on Wednesday (4 March 2026).<\/p>\n<p>He said pencak silat has two dimensions, namely art and sport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn culture, what we promote is its tradition, with silat as\nIntangible Cultural Heritage,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Going forward, this asset can also be developed from the art and\ntradition perspective, including by sending pencak silat practitioners\nto Kazakhstan.<\/p>\n<p>The discussion also highlighted cooperation in the field of film.\nFadli Zon said Fadjroel conveyed the interest of a Kazakh director to\nproduce films in several locations in Indonesia. In addition, a number\nof Indonesian films have already been translated into Russian and\nscreened in \u2018watch parties\u2019, including works by Indonesian\nfilmmakers.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised that film cooperation schemes can be implemented\nthrough co-production mechanisms with partners in Indonesia. He also\nencouraged Kazakh filmmakers to participate in JAFF Market and\nJogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival as part of strengthening both\ncountries\u2019 film ecosystems.<\/p>\n<p>Not only film, Ambassador Fadjroel opened space for cooperation in\nmuseums and proposed support for Indonesia\u2019s participation in the\ninternational singing competition \u2018Voice of Turan\u2019, which around 20\ncountries participate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis participation is seen as strategic to strengthen the top of\nmind of Indonesia\u2019s cultural character in Central Asia,\u201d concluded Fadli\nZon.<\/p>\n<p>Through this meeting, the Ministry of Culture continues to strive to\nstrengthen cultural diplomacy as a bridge in the bilateral relationship\nbetween Indonesia and Kazakhstan.
