Crossword puzzler<\/p>\n
I do not think I am wrong in assuming that many of The Jakarta
\nPost's readers are avid lovers of the crossword puzzle. From the
\nday I started subscribing to The Jakarta Post seven years ago, I
\nhave been following it with keen interest. With a sigh of relief,
\nI can say that the puzzles have matured from an arid section of
\nthe paper to an interesting and challenging one, especially
\nSunday's Crossword Puzzler. It was also a great idea to give
\nclues in Bahasa Indonesia every other week.<\/p>\n
However, to make the crossword even more interesting, and as a
\nmeans of encouraging more people to do it, may I suggest
\nintroducing an incentive scheme, the likes of which already exist
\nin several foreign daily newspapers. It could be a cash prize or
\nfree subscription to The Jakarta Post for a specific period or
\neven just printing the names of the readers who have solved the
\npuzzle correctly. To begin with this could begin with the weekly
\nCrossword Puzzler. Two or three days should be allowed for
\nreaders to get their solutions to The Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n
I believe if some incentive as mentioned above for the Weekly
\nCrossword Puzzler is introduced, the column would generate more
\ninterest among the readers and the readers' talents will also be
\nrecognized and appreciated. It would be nice if the editor could
\nrespond to this letter on the feasibility of the suggested
\nscheme.<\/p>\n
