Croatian PM visits RI<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Croatian Prime Minister Nikica Valentic is
\nscheduled to arrive in Jakarta this afternoon to begin a brief
\ntwo-day visit.<\/p>\n
Minister\/State Secretary Moerdiono announced yesterday that
\nValentic and President Soeharto are expected to explore ways to
\nestablish economic ties between the two countries.<\/p>\n
The former Yugoslav republic is a center of economic
\nactivities and industry, he noted.<\/p>\n
Indonesia recognized Croatia in May 1992, soon after it
\ndeclared its independence from Yugoslavia. Four months later, in
\nSeptember, it formally established diplomatic ties.<\/p>\n
Valentic will be accompanied by his top economic advisor
\nFranjo Greguric, Economic Minister Nadan Vidosevic and
\nTransportation Minister Ivica Mudrinic, Moerdiono said.<\/p>\n
He did not rule out the possibility that the two leaders would
\nalso discuss the latest situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina, given
\nSoeharto's position as chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement.<\/p>\n
He added that Croatia appears to want to open a diplomatic
\nmission in Jakarta soon.<\/p>\n
Soeharto and First Lady Mrs. Tien Soeharto are scheduled to
\nhost a banquet in honor of the Croatian guest tonight.<\/p>\n
Valentic and his entourage will leave Indonesia after talks on
