Gen. Rerkdi Chart-utis could however face disciplinary<br>\naction from the military after writing a letter criticizing Chuan<br>\nLeekpai's appointment as defense chief to a Thai newspaper, the<br>\nBangkok Post said.<\/p>\n<p>The officer, who was due to retire in September, submitted his<br>\nresignation to the permanent secretary of the ministry who is<br>\nexpected to approve his decision to quit, the paper said.<\/p>\n<p>Rerkdi fell foul of the military authorities after he<br>\nquestioned the ability of Chuan, a civilian leader, to head the<br>\narmed forces.<\/p>",
