It was not so much because she was a wife of a high-ranking
\ngovernment official, but the fact that she was killed in a very
\ntragic and brutal manner. Wisnani Safitri was slashed in the neck
\nto death by a man who robbed her of her bag containing cash after
\nshe had just withdrawn it from a bank. The tragic accident took
\nplace in front of her residence in Rawamangun, East Jakarta, on
\nMonday.<\/p>\n
The man, with an accomplice, managed to escape on a motorcycle
\ndespite local residents' efforts to stop them.<\/p>\n
Only 24 hours after the robbery, police arrested five people
\nbelieved to be behind the deadly robbery. One of them was
\nallegedly the man who slashed Wisnani to death.<\/p>\n
This brutal crime is just another example of a series of
\noutrages taking place in the capital city everyday. City Police
\npredicted at the beginning of the year that the crime rate would
\nescalate this year, in correlation with all the extra hardships
\nthe people have in their daily life.<\/p>\n
The gap between the poor and the rich, which has gotten wider
\nand wider, is apparently one of the reasons why the crime rate is
\nescalating.<\/p>\n
After announcing their prediction, the police should have
