        "content": "<p>Creditors control Hyundai<\/p>\n<p>SEOUL (AFP): Creditors have taken control of Hyundai<br>\nEngineering and Construction Co., South Korea&apos;s biggest civil<br>\nengineering firm, amid growing doubts about its future, officials<br>\nsaid on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Creditors sent supervisors on Monday to oversee and regulate<br>\nHEC&apos;s cash flow and business operations, the Financial<br>\nSupervisory Commission (FSC) said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The FSC warned that the collapse of the company could leave<br>\nlosses of more than US$7 billion, including $4.9 billion overseas<br>\nfrom unpaid debts to foreign banks, contract penalties and<br>\nuncollected payments.<\/p>\n<p>The creditors&apos; move reflects worries that Hyundai Engineering<br>\ncannot repay maturing debts despite the injection of emergency<br>\nloans.<\/p>\n<p>By the end of June, the company needs to repay $150 million<br>\nowed to foreign creditors, and 450 billion won ($338 million) in<br>\npromissory notes and bills to suppliers.<\/p>",
