Crash victims' bodies sent home<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The remains of 10 victims of last week's Merpati
\nNusantara Airlines crash in East Nusa Tenggara were returned to
\ntheir families yesterday.<\/p>\n
In a solemn ceremony search and rescue leader Lt. Col. Adnan
\nhanded over the remains to the East Nusa Tenggara governor
\nrepresented by Manggarai regent Gaspar Parang Ehok in
\nLabuhanbajo, to be returned to their families.<\/p>\n
The charred bodies of the ten out of 14 victims of the Twin
\nOtter plane were identified as captain pilot Lovi Ibrahim Adji,
\nJohnny T. Saduk and passengers Muchtar, Hasni, Yongky, Mrs.
\nHalim, Wirawan, Cencen, Robby Gunawan and Subagyo Jasman. The
\nother four victims have yet to be identified.<\/p>\n
The bodies were flown by three special planes to the victims'
\nhome towns in Jakarta, Kupang, Semarang, Surabaya, Mataram and
\nBima, Merpati Airlines spokesman Benny Achmad said.<\/p>\n
The 16-seater turboprop aircraft went missing on its way from
\nBima, West Nusa Tenggara, to Ruteng in Flores, East Nusa
\nTenggara, last Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The mutilated bodies and parts of the aircraft were found in
\nthe Molo Strait between the islands of Flores and Rinca on Jan. 9
\nand Jan. 10.<\/p>\n
Search and rescue workers are yet to locate the wreckage of
\nthe plane, which had been part of the Merpati fleet for 20 years.(pan)<\/p>",
