        "content": "<p>Crash relatives appeal to Gus Dur<\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE (DPA): Families of those killed in a SilkAir crash<br>\nare urging Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid to look into<br>\nthe lack of investigative updates on the cause of the 1997<br>\ndisaster that killed all 104 people aboard, it was reported on<br>\nSaturday.<\/p>\n<p>A formal letter was turned over to Indonesia's ambassador in<br>\nSingapore from members of an association representing the<br>\nvictims' families.<\/p>\n<p>Ambassador Luhut Pandjaitan said he would turn over the letter<br>\nto the president.<\/p>\n<p>Association vice-chairman Aaron Ng told The Straits Times that<br>\nduring the 30-minute discussion, the ambassador was \"very<br>\nsupportive\" of their relatives' efforts to push for the results<br>\nof the probe into the crash of the Singapore Airlines subsidiary.<br>\nThe freshly serviced plane, on a Jakarta to Singapore flight,<br>\nwent down in the Musi River in Palembang, Indonesia on Dec. 19,<br>\n1997.<\/p>\n<p>Ng said the ambassador was concerned that they had not been<br>\nable to contact the chief investigator, Professor Oetarjo Diran<br>\nof the Aircraft Accident Investigation Commission.<\/p>\n<p>The families were last briefed in August. The interim report<br>\nsuggested that human intervention had caused the Boeing 737 to<br>\ncrash and revealed that the pilot had a history of disciplinary<br>\nand financial problems.<\/p>\n<p>Ng said the final report was supposed to be ready late last<br>\nyear or at the beginning of this year.<\/p>",
