Cranberries hit Jakarta on June 28<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Irish band Cranberries will perform in
\nJakarta on June 28 at the Senayan indoor tennis stadium, Central
\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
The ticket prices are Rp 150,000 (US$65.21) for VIP, Rp
\n100,000 for first class and Rp 80,000 for festival class.<\/p>\n
The Cranberries, one of the most popular music groups in the
\nworld, have sold over 15 million copies of their two albums
\nworldwide. The band has just released a third album, Salvation,
\nwith 27,000 copies sold in Indonesia alone.<\/p>\n
The concert is part of its Free To Decide World Tour '96-'97.<\/p>\n
Local fans have expressed their surprise at the promoter's
\nselection of the indoor tennis stadium as the site of the
\nconcert. They said the Cranberries deserve a better and bigger
\nplace for the show.<\/p>\n
However, the promoter, PT Rama Lago Produktama Indonesia, said
\nthe stadium is appropriate.<\/p>\n
"I think the place is sufficient and representative enough for
\nthe Cranberries. And the fans can enjoy a friendlier atmosphere
\nthan is to be found in another place," Muntiany Bidayanti, who
\nwas representing the promoter, said in a press conference on
\nFriday.<\/p>\n
Muntiany said that the band's management has approved the
\nplace.<\/p>\n
Anthony Shih, a representative of the band's recording company
\nPolygram International, said that the only weakness of the
\nstadium is its capacity.<\/p>\n
"I am worried because it's too small. I think it can
\naccommodate only about 5,000 people. What will happen if 10,000
\npeople crowd the stadium, eager to see the band?," Shih said.
