Cracked pipe a danger to passersby<\/p>\n
Four steel pillars reinforce the sides of an overhead road
\nviaduct (see picture above) built during the Dutch colonial
\nperiod on Jl. Raya Kedunghalang in Bogor.<\/p>\n
Yayan Kusyana, an official from the Ciliwung-Cisadane regional
\nwater resource management office, said on Wednesday the concrete
\nviaduct had been cracked after it was repeatedly struck by
\npassing container trucks taller than the 3.75 meter high pipe.<\/p>\n
\"The last straw that almost broke the viaduct was when a
\ncontainer truck from Jakarta heading to Bogor hit part of it
\nand caused severe damage,\" he said. There was a 15 centimeter in
\none section, he said.<\/p>\n
Carrying an 80-ton load, the concrete structure could collapse
\nonto motorists or pedestrians at any time, he said.<\/p>\n
The office had placed notice boards on the viaduct to alert
\npassersby of the threat, he said.<\/p>\n
To prevent more collisions, the Bogor administration planned
\nto install signs warning drivers of the low structure.<\/p>\n
The viaduct channels water from Bantarjati dam to other areas
