        "content": "<p>Tokyo (ANTARA) - A total of 129 media journalists were killed while\ncarrying out their duties throughout 2025, with two-thirds of them\nkilled by Zionist Israel, according to the annual report of the world\u2019s\njournalists\u2019 organisation, Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) report,\nIsrael is responsible for two-thirds of the total number of journalist\nkillings throughout 2025, which they committed during their military\naggression in the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n<p>More than 60 percent of the 86 media personnel killed by Israel were\nPalestinian journalists who were carrying out journalistic duties from\nGaza, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>This record marks the highest number of journalist killings in two\nconsecutive years - higher than the figure of 126 in 2024 - since the\nNew York-based organisation began collecting data on journalist safety\nin 1992.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAttacks on the media are a key indicator of attacks on other\nfreedoms, and there are many steps that need to be taken to prevent\nthese killings and punish the perpetrators,\u201d said CPJ CEO Jodie\nGinsbreg.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are all exposed to risk when journalists lose their lives while\nreporting the news,\u201d she said, adding.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the Philippines, with three cases of journalist killings\nin 2025, placed the country at the top in Asia and fifth from all\ncountries on the list.<\/p>\n<p>All journalists killed in the Philippines last year were shot,\nincluding senior journalist Juan Dayang.<\/p>\n<p>Source: Kyodo<\/p>\n<p>Translator: Nabil Ihsan<\/p>",
