        "content": "<p>Court officials 'sought payoffs'<\/p>\n<p>KUPANG, West Nusa Tenggara: About 30 residents of Noelbaki<br>\nvillage in Central Kupang district have reported court officials<br>\nfor requesting a payoff to ensure their class-action suit was<br>\nsuccessful.<\/p>\n<p>The residents visited the local office of the Ministry of<br>\nJustice, the governor's office, the local legislature and the<br>\nprovincial prosecutor's office on Tuesday, Antara reported.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for the residents said judges wanted Rp 11 million<br>\nfor a verdict in their favor.<\/p>\n<p>The residents, including leaders of the Nuban tribe<br>\nMatheos Nuban and Melianus Nubatonis, said their inability to<br>\ncome up with the money led to them losing the case.<\/p>\n<p>Residents quoted an assistant of the head of the court as<br>\nsaying the money would be distributed among the judges.<\/p>\n<p>Speaker of the legislative council T. Djami said legislators<br>\nrequested that police look into the allegations.<\/p>\n<p>He said the allegations were ironic \"at a time when we are<br>\nfighting for the supremacy of law\".<\/p>",
