Court drops suit against Lippo Shop<\/p>\n
TANGERANG (JP): The Tangerang District Court has turned down a
\nlawsuit filed by a customer against Lippo Shop's internet-based
\nshopping website over alleged deception.<\/p>\n
The lawyer representing Lippo Shop, Marselina Simatupang, said
\non Friday that the court has also dropped the plaintiff's demand
\nfor Rp 2 billion (US$200,000) in compensation after finding the
\nlawsuit unproven.<\/p>\n
The customer, Kusnoro, brought Lippo Shop to court for failing
\nto live up to its promise to deliver 1,600 cartons of cigarettes
\nthat he ordered by phone last October. The order was made five
\ntimes.<\/p>\n
In its defense, Lippo Shop said it could not deliver all of
\nKusnoro's order, citing an agreement between the company and its
\ncustomers that an order exceeding 1,000 cartons of cigarettes is
\nnot allowed due to limited supplies. (41)<\/p>",
