Couple tried for heroin<\/p>\n
TANGERANG: An unmarried couple went on trial in the Tangerang
\nDistrict Court on Tuesday for being in possession of one gram of
\nputaw (low grade heroin).<\/p>\n
Prosecutor Iwa Pria Wicaksana told the court that Hesti Idrus,
\nalias Ata, 27, a resident of Jl. Kramat Baru No. 23, Gandaria
\nSelatan, Kebayoran district, South Jakarta, and Emil Iskandar,
\n37, a resident of Jl. Wijaya Kusuma II\/198, Komplek Mabad,
\nRempoa, Ciputat, Tangerang, were apprehended by Ciputat Police
\nlast June.<\/p>\n
\"They were caught red-handed wrapping the heroin in a small
\npackage ready for sale. The police raided their rented house in
\nthe Pasar Gintung area of Ciputat following a report by local
\npeople,\" the prosecutor said.<\/p>\n
The police recovered the drug and four syringes from the
\ndefendants.<\/p>\n
The defendants had violated Article 78 of Law No. 22\/1977 on
\nillegal drugs, which carries a maximum punishment of life
\nimprisonment, the prosecutor said.<\/p>\n
Presiding Judge Suhartoyo adjourned the trial until
\nnext Tuesday to hear testimony from witnesses. --JP<\/p>",
