Councilor's son named suspect<\/p>\n
BANDA ACEH, Aceh: The police named on Thursday a student
\nactivist, who is the son of the province's council speaker, as a
\nsuspect for allegedly instilling hatred toward the government
\nduring Wednesday's rally against ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia.<\/p>\n
Kautsar Mohd. Yus, chairman of the Central Committee of the
\nMovement for Acehnese Democratic Struggle, was arrested along
\nwith two friends after the rally, which accused the company of
\nfinancing the Indonesian Military (TNI) in violating human rights
\nduring the past decade.<\/p>\n
The rally also called on the Acehnese to stop paying state
\ntaxes as their money may be used to purchase weapons that may be
\nused against them.<\/p>\n
Two other student activists had been released.<\/p>\n
Aceh Besar Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Sayed Hoesainy said the
\nsuspect had violated Articles 154 and 160 of the Criminal Code on
\nspreading hatred against the government.<\/p>\n
The situation in the violence-torn province remained tense
\nfollowing a fresh attack by unknown armed groups against a
\nmilitary joint-battalion in the early hours of Thursday morning.
\nA military personnel was killed and three others injured when the
\n40-strong joint-battalion were passing Padang Seulimeng, Setia
\nBakti regency of West Aceh.<\/p>\n
The dead soldier was identified as Second Pvt. Wahyudi, a
\nmember of the army's special force, while the injured: Julius
\nFernando, Imam Naim, and Swarsono were members of the West Java
\nSiliwangi infantry brigade. (50)<\/p>",
