I strongly believe many people are enraged by news in the mass
\nmedia about Jakarta councillors traveling abroad. As an ordinary
\nman, I feel disappointed and baffled by the fact that the
\ncouncillors seem to have no conscience nor care about helping the
\npoor.<\/p>\n
There are many examples that show their disregard for other
\npeople's sufferings, among other things:<\/p>\n
The so-called honorable councillors were nowhere to be seen in
\ndefense of pedicab drivers when they were being chased away and
\ntheir pedicabs confiscated by security officers. Nor did they
\nfeel moved nor care to show up at the site to show their concern
\nor give moral support when a fire ravaged a densely populated
\nresidential area in Penjaringan, North Jakarta.<\/p>\n
It seems that councillors really take advantage of their five-
\nyear-service to get facilities and have the chance to travel
\nabroad and enrich themselves. As ordinary people, we deeply
\nregret having chosen you as our representatives, because none of
\nyou ever think of the sufferings of the people in Jakarta.<\/p>\n
You must bear in mind that there are still a lot of Jakartans
\nwho find it nearly impossible to scrape to together a little
\nmoney for daily meals for their family and school fees for their
\nchildren.<\/p>\n
