        "content": "<p>Councillor barred from leaving town<\/p>\n<p>RANTAU, South Kalimantan: Prosecutors here placed the<br>\nsecretary of the local legislative council here, Muhammad<br>\nEffendy, under city arrest on Tuesday and named him a key suspect<br>\nin a graft case involving Rp 3 billion (about US$337,000) in<br>\nstate funds.<\/p>\n<p>The head of the Rantau prosecutor's office, Yusuf Supardi,<br>\nsaid investigators had obtained sufficient evidence to declare<br>\nEffendy a suspect.<\/p>\n<p>The decision was made after the suspect was questioned for<br>\naround 11 hours on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Effendy joins Tapin council head Sirajudin Noor as a key<br>\nsuspect in a corruption case involving funds from the regency's<br>\n2001-2002 budget.<\/p>\n<p>It was not immediately clear how they are believed to have<br>\nembezzled the money.<\/p>\n<p>Both councillors have been barred from leaving town without<br>\nthe permission of the authorities. -- Antara<\/p>",
