Councillor admits to consuming ecstasy<\/p>\n
BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: City Council deputy speaker Setyawan D.
\nPrasodjo admitted during his trial on Monday to consuming ecstasy
\nshortly before police arrested him last year.<\/p>\n
The chairman of the local chapter of the Indonesian Democratic
\nParty of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan), Setyawan, said he obtained
\nthe ecstasy pill from his colleague Zul. Both were arrested in a
\nraid on Nirwana Discotheque on Dec. 28 last year.<\/p>\n
"It's true judge. I took the pill and swallowed it with water
\nbefore I was arrested," Setyawan said during the trial at
\nTanjungkarang District Court, which was packed with onlookers.<\/p>\n
Police arrested Setyawan and three of his companions at the
\ndiscotheque. Police found another pill under the seat on which
\nthe councillor sat.<\/p>\n
Four Lampung councillors were also arrested last week for
\nconsuming ecstasy at a karaoke hall in the city.<\/p>\n
The councillors' arrests have created indignation among the
\npublic in Lampung and calls for the police to thoroughly

CIREBON, Central Java: A reporter from Sindang Kasih radio
\nstation in Cirebon has been reported missing after a group
\nclaiming to be police officers took him away on Sunday night.<\/p>\n
The radio's director, Iim, suspects that reporter Toto M.
\nSaid, 30, alias Jamil Permana, has been kidnapped. She did not
\nsay why anybody would want to kidnap him.<\/p>\n
Iim said two men visited the radio station on Sunday night and
\nasked for Jamil's home address. They later returned with Jamil,
\nwho had bruises on his face, and demanded to meet Iim prior to
\ntaking Jamil to the Cirebon Police station.<\/p>\n
Iim said the men showed her no arrest warrant and did not
\nexplain the reason for Jamil's arrest.<\/p>\n
"They took Jamil away in a car, and up until Monday afternoon
\nhe still cannot be found," Iim said, explaining that she had
\ntried to confirm his arrest with every police station in Cirebon.<\/p>\n
She estimated that there were nine people in the car that took
\nJamil away, but only two had entered the radio station.<\/p>\n
