Council supports int'l circuit<\/p>\n
SEMARANG (JP): Members of the Central Java provincial council
\nthrew their weight behind an idea to construct an international
\nracing circuit some 35 kilometers from the capital.<\/p>\n
The idea was proposed by the Central Java Administration and a
\ngroup of investors with a budget of more than Rp 29 billion (US$
\n3.29 million). It's planned to be built on a 50-hectare plot of
\nland in Tlogo village of Tuntang district.<\/p>\n
\"I support the idea because the investors will provide the
\nfunds meanwhile the provincial administration provides the land,\"
\nchairman of the United Development Party (PPP) faction, Hisyam
\nAli told The Jakarta Post on Friday.<\/p>\n
\"The construction, however, must also take into account
\ncouncillors' aspirations to ensure residents support.\"<\/p>\n
A similar response was voiced by chairman of Commission B on
\nbudget affairs, Noer Achmad.<\/p>\n
\"It's fine as long as the budget comes from the investors so
\nthat our own money can be used to eradicate poverty and improve
\neducation,\" he said.<\/p>\n
\"It's also important to be very careful in acquiring the land
\nbecause it's such a sensitive issue.\" (har)<\/p>",
