Council member goes on trial<\/p>\n
TANGERANG: The Tangerang District Court will try Tangerang
\nmunicipal council spokesman Gian Sugiharsono and an alleged drug
\nproducer, Ang Kiem Soei, in two separate trials this week, a
\ncourt staff member said over the weekend.<\/p>\n
The staff member, who requested anonymity, said Gian
\nwould be tried for illegally renting out a 7,000-square-meter
\nplot belonging to Yayasan Pendidikan Kuncung on Jl. Siliwangi,
\nJatiuwung subdistrict to 10 tenants.<\/p>\n
\"The 10 tenants built permanent kiosks alongside the
\nroad so that the foundation could not use the land to build a
\nschool,\" said the staff member.<\/p>\n
Prosecutor Rustam Nawawi, who prepared the indictment, will
\ncharge Gian with violating Article 385 on annexation. The Article
\ncarries a maximum punishment of four years in prison.<\/p>\n
The trial, which will begin on Wednesday, will be
\npresided over by judge Sutoto Hadi.<\/p>\n
A day after the trial, the district court will also begin the
\ntrial of an alleged drug producer, Ang Kiem Soei, who was
\narrested in April after he was accused of producing millions of
\necstasy pills in two large factories in Cipondoh and Karawaci,
\nTangerang.<\/p>\n
Ang Kiem Soei's trial will be presided over by court chairman
\nM. Hatta Ali on Thursday. It will be the first case for Hatta Ali
\nto try since he was moved to the district court early this year.
