Corruption fighter dies at 55<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: The acting director of the anticorruption division at
\nthe city police headquarters, Sr. Comr. Muchrawi Effendi, 55,
\ndied on Tuesday at 3 a.m. at Graha Medika Hospital in Kebon
\nJeruk, West Jakarta.<\/p>\n
\"He had been sick for a long time,\" said National Police
\ndeputy spokesman Sr. Comr. Zainuri Lubis, who did not name
\nMuchrawi's illness.<\/p>\n
Muchrawi had served as the director of the anticorruption
\ndivision for nine months, replacing Brig. Gen. Bakat Purwanto,
\nwho was killed last year in an aerial accident when the aircraft
\nhe was flying in attempted a crash landing on the Jagorawi toll
\nroad in East Jakarta.<\/p>\n
While in office, Muchrawi handled high-profile cases,
\nincluding the alleged embezzlement of a wealth report from
\nAttorney General M.A. Rachman and the alleged bribery case
\nimplicating members of the House of Representatives Commission IX
\nfor financial affairs. Both cases are still under police

BOGOR: The corona virus that causes the Severe Acute
\nRespiratory Syndrome (SARS), which is responsible for killing
\nover 100 people worldwide, is not harmful to animals, a
\nvirologist said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Dr. Marthen B.M. Malole from the School of Veterinary at the
\nBogor Institute of Agriculture, said that the corona virus could
\nalso be found in animals, such as chickens, pigs and cows.<\/p>\n
He said that in tropical climates, the virus could only last
\nbetween two and three hours, while in colder climates it could

BOGOR : Taman Safari Indonesia in collaboration with the
\nIndonesian Christian Church (GKI) has planted 1,000 trees on the
\nslopes of Gede Pangrango mountain near Bogor, West Java.<\/p>\n
Taman Safari spokesman Yulius Suprihardo said that the
\nregreening program was aimed at improving the environment in the
\narea, which serves as an environmental buffer zone for Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Gede Pangrango mountain is part of the Bopunjur (Bogor,
\nPuncak, Cianjur) area, where the 13 rivers flowing through the
\ncapital city have their sources.<\/p>\n
The amount of forested land in the area has been drastically
\nreduced due to the uncontrolled real estate development and
\nillegal logging.<\/p>\n
The program, which also involved students from the Cibeureum
\nstate elementary school, saw the planting of 800 teak and
\nmahogany trees.<\/p>\n
So far, Taman Safari Indonesia has planted about 400,000 trees
