The footage has ignited public fury, as it is\nperceived to reflect unequal treatment compared to other corruption\ninmates. In response, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham)\nhas stated that it is conducting an immediate internal examination by\nrelevant authorities. Kasubdit Kerjasama Ditjen Pemasyarakatan\nKemenkumham RI, Rika Aprianti, confirmed that a joint team is thoroughly\ninvestigating the incident. \u201cRegarding the information circulating about\nan inmate from Kendari Detention Centre who stopped by a restaurant\nafter the judicial review (PK) hearing, we can state the following: the\nincident is being examined by a joint team from the Internal Compliance\nOperational Unit (Sat Ops Patnal) of the Directorate General of\nCorrections and the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Office of the\nDirectorate General of Corrections, involving all relevant parties\nincluding the inmate and the officers,\u201d Rika emphasised when contacted\non Thursday, 16 April 2026. Not only the inmate but also the escorting\nofficers are under scrutiny. Rika stressed that firm sanctions await if\nviolations are confirmed, applicable to both the inmate and the\npersonnel involved. \u201cIf violations are proven, or the extent of the\nbreach is determined\u2014whether by the inmate in question or the\nofficers\u2014sanctions and punishments will be imposed in accordance with\napplicable regulations,\u201d she said. Furthermore, Rika noted that the\nMinister\u2019s instructions are clear: there is no tolerance for\ndisciplinary violations, extending even to leadership levels. \u201cIn line\nwith the Minister\u2019s directives, the examination will cover from the Head\nof the Detention Centre, the Head of Security, to the escorting officers\ninvolved in the incident. If violations are proven, actions will be\ntaken according to regulations, up to dismissal from position,\u201d she\nadded.
