        "content": "<p>Corp governance plan for RI<\/p>\n<p>SYDNEY (Dow Jones): The Australian Securities &amp; Investments<br>\nCommission Friday signed an agreement with Edith Cowan University<br>\nand accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers to develop and deliver<br>\ncorporate governance programs to regulatory and government<br>\nofficials in Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines.<\/p>\n<p>The project has been designed to &quot;foster sound corporate<br>\ngovernance and improve the regulatory environment for the<br>\nprevention of corporate fraud,&quot; said ASIC Chairman Alan Cameron<br>\nin a statement. More specifically, it will help with the<br>\ndevelopment of laws to regulate the duties of directors and<br>\ndefine shareholder and creditor rights. Also, it will help<br>\ndevelop reporting and disclosure regimes at national and company<br>\nlevels.<\/p>\n<p>Poor corporate governance was a &quot;major factor&quot; in the recent<br>\neconomic destabilization of the Asia Pacific region, Cameron<br>\nnoted.<\/p>",
