        "content": "<p>JAKARTA \u2014 The House of Representatives plenary session approved a\nBill on Amendments to Law No.\u00a028 of 2014 concerning Copyright as a\nparliamentary legislative initiative. The approval was reached after\neight parliamentary factions presented their views and support during\nthe plenary session at the House of Representatives building on\nThursday, 12 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe submit to this honourable chamber whether the bill as an\ninitiative of House members concerning amendments to Law No.\u00a028 of 2014\non Copyright may be approved as a House legislative bill,\u201d stated\nPuan.<\/p>\n<p>The revision of the Copyright Law is currently in the draft\npreparation stage by the House as part of the 2026 Priority National\nLegislative Agenda (Prolegnas). The House Legislative Body (Baleg) has\nconducted several public hearings to gather input from various\nstakeholders regarding the refinement of the regulations. One of the\nmain focuses in this revision is the reform of the royalty system for\nmusicians.<\/p>\n<p>One of the proposals under discussion concerns staged royalty payment\nregulations, with 25 percent payable before the performance is held,\nwhilst the remaining balance is settled no later than 30 days after the\nevent.<\/p>\n<p>In the process of preparing the draft revision, Baleg has involved\nvarious stakeholders in the music industry, ranging from musicians\u2019\nassociations, Collective Management Organisations (CMO), to record label\nrepresentatives. The involvement of these various parties is expected to\nproduce healthier regulations for Indonesia\u2019s music ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>House Legislative Body Chief Bob Hasan stated that his team targets\ncompleting the draft revision of Law No.\u00a028 of 2014 on Copyright by\nApril 2026. \u201cThis is indeed very interesting and unique \u2014 copyright.\nPreviously it was about to be completed but it did not finish, and now\nas we are trying to complete it there are further changes that could\nextend it further. But hopefully this year, specifically in April, we\ncan get it finished,\u201d said Bob in a meeting at the House building on\nTuesday, 10 February 2026.<\/p>",
