Cop nabbed for alleged blackmail<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: A policeman was captured by detectives for allegedly
\nblackmailing a drug user.<\/p>\n
Central Jakarta Police chief of detectives Comr. Angesta
\nRomano Yoyol confirmed the arrest.<\/p>\n
\"The policeman has been under arrest since Monday. He is a
\nlow-ranking member with the Menteng Police,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Police sources said the policeman, identified as Saut Siagian,
\nwas apprehended by detectives of the National Security division
\nof Jakarta Police Headquarters after the drug user filed a
\nreport.<\/p>\n
The drug user, who was arrested earlier at a cafe in a plush
\nhotel in Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta, told police that the
\nofficer had asked for Rp 10 million (US$1,183) to suspend his
\narrest.<\/p>\n
Menteng Police chief Comr. Syahardiantono denied that a
\nsubordinate of his had been arrested.<\/p>\n
\"I have no subordinate called Saut Siagian. We have Saut
\nHutabarat and Marulak Siagian. But they are still here and

BEKASI: Four residents of Setia Dharma village, Tambun, Bekasi,
\ndied after drinking a blend of beer and ginseng at a party on
\nSunday.<\/p>\n
The latest fatality was Anto, 23, who died on Wednesday at the
\nMustajam Tambun Hospital in Jati Mulya. Seven others are still
\nbeing treated in the hospital's intensive care unit.<\/p>\n
Supriyadi, one of the residents, said the village was
\ncelebrating the anniversary of a radio station on Sunday. While
\ndangdut singers entertained residents, a group of young men
\ngathered at a security post to drink the beer and ginseng
\nmixture.<\/p>\n
\"I had a severe headache and my eyesight was hazy the
\nfollowing morning,\" Supriyadi said.<\/p>\n
Supriyadi said he went to a doctor who, suspecting he had
\nalcohol poisoning, told him to go to the hospital.<\/p>\n
Bekasi Police chief Sr. Comr. Bachtiar Tambunan said an
\ninvestigation was underway. The police have confiscated eight
