The flow of homebound travellers and returnees in the Special Region
of Yogyakarta (DIY) is being managed smoothly and safely, according to
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djamari
Chaniago. He made the remarks while inspecting readiness at the airports
and railway stations in DIY, and urged all staff at these facilities to
prioritise serving the public.

“We have been destined to serve the public, so there are no other
tasks besides serving the people, especially at times like now,” he said
during a visit to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) in Kulon Progo,
DIY, on Wednesday.

During the inspection, he asked that airport services be carried out
and prepared well. He added that if an airline wishes to operate 24
hours a day, it should be allowed. “The critical thing is if one flight
is delayed, information must be swift,” he said. The information the
public must know concerns when a plane will depart or whether there is a
replacement flight. “People must know that, so our relationship with
airlines must be maintained at all times, every day, and perhaps every
hour,” he said.

During his check at Stasiun Tugu Yogyakarta, the minister conveyed
the same message about serving the public. He noted that it is a
consequence for workers in the public service sector to never have
holidays during festive periods. The minister reminded that task-sharing
rules can be implemented effectively so as not to cause slackness,
negligence, or fatigue. “If that happens, it could lead to accidents and
could snowball into something big, making our good work seem useless due
to one small accident,” he warned.

On that occasion, he urged PT KAI to communicate with Forkopimda,
especially regional governments, as well as the TNI and Polri to ensure
smooth service to the public. He is confident that all staff working at
airports and stations can perform their duties well, as this is a form
of dedication to the interests of the people.

“To the staff, my message is: do not get bored, do not tire, and do
not become weary of serving our society,” he said.

Meanwhile, Aria Nugrahadi, Assistant Regional Secretary (Sekda) of
DIY, said the regional government has been monitoring the preparedness
for mudik services. He revealed that there is potential for the number
of mudik travellers entering Yogyakarta to reach up to eight million
people.

“Of course, the preparedness and attention from the Kemenko Polkam
give us confidence to welcome and serve during the Eid celebrations, to
make it better,” Aria said.

A similar level of readiness was also conveyed by Ruly Artha, General
Manager of Yogyakarta International Airport, who stated that the airport
has prepared a command post that will operate in full on 11 March 2026,
with 669 personnel involved. “We anticipate the peak in mudik flow on 13
March,” he said.

Meanwhile, Awan H. Purwadinata, Director of Operations at PT KAI,
said KAI will prepare strategies to anticipate the Eid holiday by
monitoring specific areas.
",
