        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2013 Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional\nDevelopment Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono has disclosed the future trajectory\nof the Whoosh high-speed rail project expansion to East Java. He\nemphasised that certainty regarding the extension is being pursued in\nparallel whilst awaiting financial restructuring of PT Kereta Cepat\nIndonesia China, the operator of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed\nRailway.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that his ministry has held meetings with the Finance\nMinistry and Danantara Indonesia concerning plans for Whoosh to operate\nas far as Banyuwangi in East Java. The government will also ensure that\nfinancial restructuring of the Jakarta-Bandung line continues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are conducting these stages in parallel,\u201d said AHY during a press\nconference on the Best Performance Rapid Results Programme and Mudik\nLebaran preparations at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on\nWednesday, 11 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, financial restructuring of the Jakarta-Bandung\nHigh-Speed Railway is crucial because it will affect the roadmap for\nWhoosh\u2019s development to East Java. Once a solution to the financial\nproblems of the Jakarta-Bandung line is secured, the future Whoosh\nproject can proceed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should first ensure that the Jakarta-Bandung line is resolved,\nmeaning that a proper solution has been found, only after that can we\ndevelop the next phase,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>AHY stressed that the government remains committed to managing and\ndeveloping Whoosh so that its benefits can be felt by a wider\npopulation.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that the presence of Whoosh in the far reaches of East Java\ncould transform the development landscape of the regions it passes\nthrough. \u201cIf Jakarta-Surabaya can be covered in approximately three\nhours by train, I believe this will transform the development landscape,\nwhilst also bringing new economic growth along the entire route,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>",
