        "content": "<p>President Prabowo Subianto has officially established the\nJakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail Committee through Presidential\nRegulation (Perpres) No.\u00a029 of 2026. Under the regulation, President\nappointed the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional\nDevelopment (Menko IPK), Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), as the\nCommittee Chairman.<\/p>\n<p>Perpres No.\u00a029 of 2026 is the second amendment to Perpres No.\u00a0107 of\n2015 on the Acceleration of Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail\nInfrastructure and Facilities. The regulation was signed by President\nPrabowo on 12 May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Presidential Regulation establishes the Jakarta-Bandung\nHigh-Speed Rail Committee, hereinafter referred to as the Committee,\u201d\nstates the regulation as cited in Jakarta on Sunday, 30 May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>AHY will be assisted by the Coordinating Minister for Economic\nAffairs as Vice Chairman. The Committee also includes ministers and\nheads of strategic institutions as members, including BP BUMN and\nDanantara, whose presence in the committee structure marks a new phase\nin state investment management for the high-speed rail project, aiming\nto strengthen funding synergy and governance of involved state-owned\nenterprises.<\/p>\n<p>Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development\nAgus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) stated that President Prabowo\u2019s mandate\nis clear: to ensure the sustainability of this national strategic\nproject. The government is currently focusing on discussing the\nfinancial restructuring plan for Whoosh.<\/p>\n<p>AHY emphasised that the state must step in and take responsibility to\nensure the project\u2019s financial health. Restructuring is an absolute\nprerequisite before the government proceeds to further development\nstages or expanding the high-speed rail to other regions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe prioritise completing the financial restructuring before moving\nto further development stages for the high-speed rail project to other\nregions,\u201d AHY stressed.<\/p>\n<p>This move aims to ensure optimal operation of Whoosh without\nexcessively burdening the national finances, while improving management\nefficiency under the newly formed coordinating ministry.
