Are we turning into a nation of looters, rapists, murderers
\nand arsonists, or are we being punished by God for our cowardly
\nacts in rectifying the decades-old abuse of power?<\/p>\n
Riots have been breaking out all across this vast archipelago,
\nand always for trivial reasons. Lately, riots have been erupting
\nfor what appears to be ethnic, racial, religious and inter-group
\nsensitivity.<\/p>\n
The economic downturn has certainly contributed to the
\nfeverish behavior of the people. For those who are suddenly cut
\noff from their means of livelihood, a slight provocation is
\nenough to kindle violent acts.<\/p>\n
We, of course, cannot let these people continue their rash and
\ndangerous behavior, because their drastic actions could have an
\nimmense impact on the country's economic recovery. The general
\npublic, especially those on the lowest rungs of society who are
\nprone to provocations, needs to be calmed down by government and
\nreligious leaders.<\/p>\n
And all members of the society should endeavor not to react so
\neasily to provocations.<\/p>\n
