In the end, the House of Representatives (DPR) has decided to
\ndelay the enactment of the bill on the National Police. The
\nreason is that the bill has received a lot of criticism. It's
\nvery strange, considering that the bill has been discussed for
\nten months.<\/p>\n
For me, this postponement reflects the fact that some
\nlegislators are not professional. A ten-month time frame should
\nbe enough to accommodate inputs from the community. Why hasn't
\nsuch a time period been put to better use so that the DPR's
\nSpecial Committee will not object to the bill's contents and
\nmaterials?<\/p>\n
What's more amazing is that the objection to the enactment
\ncomes from the legislative circle itself, namely the faction of
\nthe Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle. If they have an
\nobjection, they can discuss it in their internal meetings. Or
\ndoesn't the mechanism for internal meetings held by the faction
\nrun well?<\/p>\n
