We must shift to a modern system based on\nenvironmentally friendly technology.<\/p>\n<p>Jambi City (ANTARA) - Environment Minister (LH)\/Head of the\nEnvironment Control Agency (BPLH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq has requested\nregional commitments to accelerate the Waste-to-Energy Electricity\n(PSEL) management in Greater Jambi.<\/p>\n<p>This emphasis was conveyed after the signing of a Cooperation\nAgreement (PKS) between the Jambi Provincial Government (Pemprov), Jambi\nCity Government (Pemkot), and Muaro Jambi Regency Government, as a\nconcrete solution to sustainably address urban waste issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn line with the President\u2019s instructions, waste management can no\nlonger rely on landfills. We must shift to a modern system based on\nenvironmentally friendly technology,\u201d stated Environment Minister Hanif\nin a written statement in Jambi on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the construction of PSEL is part of the\ntransformation of the national waste management system, in line with\nPresident Prabowo Subianto\u2019s instructions through Presidential\nRegulation (Perpres) No.\u00a0109 of 2025 on handling urban waste through\nprocessing it into renewable energy.<\/p>\n<p>The signing of the PKS marks the initial step in the real\nimplementation of PSEL construction in Greater Jambi. At the same time,\nit can deliver a modern, efficient, and sustainable waste management\nsystem, as well as support the achievement of national targets for\ncomprehensive waste management.<\/p>\n<p>Based on calculations, the Greater Jambi region generates 670 tonnes\nof waste per day, consisting of 446 tonnes per day in Jambi City and 224\ntonnes per day in Muaro Jambi Regency.<\/p>\n<p>Through the planned PSEL development, in the future, all waste\ngeneration in both areas can be managed optimally without causing\nenvironmental pollution or public health disturbances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very grateful that unexpectedly, Jambi is one of the\nprovinces where PSEL will be built. For us, waste issues are a very\ncomplex problem, including in raising public awareness. Hopefully, this\nPSEL will be the answer to the ongoing waste problems,\u201d said Jambi\nGovernor Al Haris.<\/p>\n<p>During the visit to Jambi, the Environment Minister along with the\nentourage directly inspected the prospective PSEL construction site at\nthe Talang Gulo landfill in Jambi City.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, to support the Clean, Healthy, Neat, and Beautiful\nIndonesia Movement (ASRI), Environment Minister Hanif joined local\ncommunities in a cleaning action in the Sipin Lake tourist area in Jambi\nCity.<\/p>",
