When I paid my telephone bill earlier this week, I was
\nsurprised to see that an extra Rp 1,000 was added on to the bill,
\nas a contribution to the SEA Games. Like it or not, you have to
\npay it and there is no point in arguing about it. But I would be
\nreally surprised if the next four consecutive months of bills
\nwould also carry the same amount of contribution to the same
\ngames. Can anybody imagine how much money would be collected in
\nthis way, and without resistance from the public?<\/p>\n
The story does not end there. What about electricity and
\nwater bills? Would those bills be burdened by the same
\ncontribution? (at least rumor has said so) For this I'll have to
\nwait until the day I pay them. Whatever the case may be, the
\namount of money collected will be fantastic. My simple thought is
\nthat it is easy enough to collect funds from the people, but it
\nis difficult to give an account of how the funds are going to be
\nspent.<\/p>\n
