Students at SMPN 48 Jakarta received free nutritious meal packages on Friday, 13 March 2026, as the final distribution before the Ramadan break begins on 16 March. The school has encountered logistical challenges, as the nutritious meal programme was only able to distribute packages for two days instead of the intended bundle for the entire holiday period due to supplier constraints. The National Nutrition Agency had previously announced that distributions should occur on the final school day before the break, highlighting coordination issues between education authorities and nutrition service providers.

Students at SMPN 48 Jakarta received free nutritious meal packages on
Friday afternoon, 13 March 2026. The packaged meal distribution
represented the final nutritious meal programme (MBG) allocation before
students began their Ramadan break, which commences on 16 March
2026.

Wrapped in transparent plastic bags, the nutritious meal packages
distributed at SMPN 48 Jakarta comprised eight types of food items.
These included packaged milk, three small portions of fried potatoes,
roasted peanuts, one bag containing approximately four dates, one
orange, and two boiled eggs.

Fitri Setiawati, Deputy Head of School for Facilities and
Infrastructure at SMPN 48 Jakarta, stated that the MBG package
represented the nutritious meal allocation for two days. She noted that
this allocation was actually less than what students were supposed to
receive.

According to her account, students were originally supposed to
receive a bundled package covering the entire Ramadan holiday period.
“But the Nutrition Service Unit (SPPG) said they could only provide for
two days, because the supplier was not prepared to provide bundled
packages,” she explained when met at the school in South Jakarta on
Friday.

Fitri indicated that there remained no certainty regarding the
distribution of bundled MBG packages for the Ramadan holiday season at
her school. The Nutrition Service Unit serving their school had not yet
provided further information on this matter.

At the same time, she raised concerns that if the MBG stock for the
Ramadan break were to be distributed the following week, it would be
problematic. Starting 16 March, students would no longer attend school,
and many children would begin travelling to their parents’ home towns
outside the city. “So it seems difficult if we have to distribute the
nutritious meal programme the following Monday,” she said.

On 14 February 2026, the Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Dadan
Hindayana, assured that the national nutrition fulfilment programme
would continue during the 2026 Ramadan break. He stated that the MBG
package for the Ramadan holiday must be distributed on the final day of
school or at the latest by 17 March 2026, with the Ramadan break
estimated to fall between 18-20 March 2026.

The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education subsequently set the
Ramadan holiday to begin earlier, on 16 March. “Distribution will be
carried out on the final day of the previous distribution cycle,” he
said, according to a press release from the National Nutrition Agency’s
Legal and Public Relations Bureau on 14 February 2026.
",
