As reported by detikcom on Tuesday (4\/8\/2026), the \u2018how to approach\ngirls\u2019 content by a creator known as Bryan Ebem went viral on social\nmedia. The video was even highlighted by Habiburokhman, Chairman of\nCommission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI),\nbecause the individual had recorded the usher at GIIAS 2026 without\npermission.<\/p>\n
\u201cRecording someone secretly (candid) without consent, especially\nturning it into \u2018how to approach girls\u2019 content for commercial gain or\npopularity on social media, is an unethical act and a violation of the\nlaw,\u201d Habiburokhman told journalists on Monday (3\/8).<\/p>\n
Habiburokhman stressed that the GIIAS exhibition must be a safe place\nfor everyone. In particular, he said, for those carrying out their\nduties professionally.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI, I affirm that public\nspaces \u2014 including automotive exhibitions such as GIIAS \u2014 must be safe\nand comfortable places for anyone, especially for female workers\n(ushers\/SPGs) who are carrying out their duties professionally,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Habiburokhman said the victim of the unconsented recording could sue\nthe person who filmed her. The legal basis, he said, is Articles 12 and\n115 of the Copyright Law.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnder Indonesian positive law, the victim can sue the perpetrator.\nThe basis includes, among others, Articles 12 and 115 of the Copyright\nLaw,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are very strong grounds to sue the perpetrator, namely Article\n12 and Article 115 of the law prohibiting the reproduction or\npublication of a person\u2019s facial portrait without permission for\ncommercial purposes, and Article 12 of the Sexual Violence Crime Law,\nwhich covers Electronic-Based Sexual Violence (KSBE) if the recording\ncontains forms of harassment or electronic exploitation of a person\u2019s\nphysical appearance without consent,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Habiburokhman said the victim could also invoke the ITE\nLaw, which governs violations of privacy rights and attacks on dignity\nin the digital space. He urged the victim or the management\/agency\nconcerned to file an official report immediately.<\/p>\n
\u201cI encourage and advise the victim (usher\/SPG) or the\nmanagement\/agency to immediately file an official report with the South\nTangerang (Tangsel) Police, as the police force with jurisdiction over\nthe area where the GIIAS exhibition took place,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Commission III of the DPR, Habiburokhman said, will ensure law\nenforcement authorities process the report firmly and professionally.\nThis, he said, is important to create a deterrent effect.<\/p>\n

He admitted his fault and offered a clarification.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, the beginning of making the video was like this. At first it was\njust for fun. I like meeting new people, just messing about. Meeting\nforeigners, meeting girls, meeting older men,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He felt the video he made offered inspiration for introverts to\nbecome more confident.
