Container trucks impounded<\/p>\n
The Jakarta Office of the Ministry of Transportation
\nannounced that it has impounded more than 300 container trucks
\nfor a series of violations.<\/p>\n
Abdul Karim, the head of the office, said the trailer trucks
\nhad been impounded because of technical problems, primarily
\nmalfunctioning braking systems, or missing vehicle documentation.<\/p>\n
The trailer trucks were impounded at a site in Tanjung Priok,
\nNorth Jakarta, and at another site on Jl. Pramuka, East Jakarta
\nduring the ongoing operation on heavy trucks, which was launched
\n21 days ago.<\/p>\n
\"The trucks will be allowed to resume operations if their
\nvehicle documents are completed and their brakes repaired,\" Abdul
\nKarim said.<\/p>\n
The inspection was carried out jointly by the Ministry of
\nTransportation, the police and the City Land Transportation and
\nTraffic Control Agency (DLLAJ).<\/p>\n
Abdul said that, at present, there are 2,050 container trucks
\noperating from and to the Tanjung Priok Port everyday. However,
\nhe added that approximately 600 of them do meet inspection
