        "content": "<p>Indonesia\u2019s Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH) has stated that\ngrowing public awareness of the importance of halal products is driving\nthe broader implementation of halal certification throughout\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n<p>BPJPH Chief Ahmad Haikal Hasan said that consumer awareness regarding\nproduct halal status continues to increase alongside strengthened halal\nliteracy among the public.<\/p>\n<p>These conditions have created a natural market mechanism that drives\nbusiness operators to ensure their products carry halal\ncertification.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSocial law will take effect. Products without halal certification\nwill ultimately be abandoned by consumers,\u201d said Haikal, commonly known\nas Babe Haikal, in a press release received by Kompas.com on Wednesday\n(11 March 2026).<\/p>\n<p>This statement was made by Babe Haikal during a Media Gathering event\nin Jakarta on Monday (9 March 2026).<\/p>\n<p>High consumer attention towards halal aspects is also reflected in\nthe results of a Populix survey conducted in March 2023. According to\none national media outlet, the survey involved 1,014 Muslim respondents\naged 17\u201355 years across Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>The survey results showed that the halal logo became the primary\nconsideration in product purchasing decisions. Eighty-three per cent of\nrespondents stated that the presence of a halal logo was an important\nfactor in choosing a product.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the halal logo, the survey also revealed several other\nconsiderations in Muslim consumers\u2019 purchasing decisions, including\nclarity of product ingredient information (80 per cent), product\nsuitability with needs (75 per cent), environmentally friendly packaging\n(52 per cent), and the factor of products being domestically produced\n(25 per cent).<\/p>\n<p>These findings demonstrate that the halal logo has become the most\ndominant factor in product purchasing decisions and simultaneously\nreflects strong halal awareness among Indonesian consumers.<\/p>\n<p>According to Haikal, a strong halal ecosystem has the potential to\nbecome one of the important drivers of national economic growth.<\/p>",
