        "content": "<p>The Kingdom of the Netherlands has officially opened an Honorary\nConsulate for Sulawesi in Makassar, South Sulawesi Province, marking a\nnew chapter in strengthening bilateral relations between the Netherlands\nand Indonesia in the eastern region of the country.<\/p>\n<p>Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for Sulawesi, Osco\nOlfriady Letunggamu, stated that the Consulate will serve as an active\nbridge connecting Sulawesi\u2019s potential with networks, knowledge,\ntechnology, as well as broader trade, investment and cooperation\nopportunities with the Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the economic field, focus will be given to the agricultural\nsector, as well as energy, maritime affairs and water,\u201d he said through\nan official statement in Makassar on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, people-to-people relations between Sulawesi and the\nNetherlands will also be strengthened through higher education\ncooperation and various cultural activities.<\/p>\n<p>Adriaan Palm outlined three main priorities for the Dutch presence in\nMakassar: economy, culture and people-to-people relations.<\/p>\n<p>He also announced plans for a periodic visa-at-your-doorstep service\nin Makassar, which will allow Sulawesi residents to apply for Dutch\nvisas locally without having to travel to Jakarta, Bali or Surabaya.<\/p>\n<p>Adriaan emphasised the EU\u2013Indonesia Comprehensive Economic\nPartnership Agreement as one of the important foundations for expanding\ntwo-way trade and investment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrently, the Netherlands is the eighth largest investor in\nIndonesia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Makassar holds a strategic position as the gateway\nto eastern Indonesia, so the presence of the diplomatic representative\ncan further strengthen international cooperation networks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Makassar City Government welcomes the presence of the Honorary\nConsulate of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for Sulawesi.
