        "content": "<p>JAKARTA - MY Esti Wijayati, Deputy Chair of Commission X of the House\nof Representatives (DPR RI), has asked for the Constitutional Court (MK)\nruling stating that the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme budget\nmust not use the education budget to be implemented from 2027. Although\nthe Constitutional Court allows an adjustment period until the 2028\nstate budget (APBN) at the latest, she said the ruling should be put\ninto effect as soon as possible in order to improve the quality of\neducation in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt should be pursued as far as possible to be implemented starting\nfrom the 2027 fiscal year, because there are high hopes in the world of\neducation \u2014 we can repair and improve the quality of education through\nthe enhancement of human resources,\u201d said Esti in Jakarta on Monday\n(3\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>According to her, the education budget needs to be directed towards\nimproving the quality of educators, teaching staff, school pupils and\nuniversity students. In addition, the budget should be used to improve\neducational facilities and infrastructure so that they are more\nadequate, for the welfare of teachers, lecturers and educational staff,\nevenly and of high quality for all.<\/p>\n<p>She believes that a maximised education budget can also answer the\nchallenges of the globalisation era. This is because, she said,\nIndonesia is facing major changes in the form of digital transformation,\nthe development of artificial intelligence, the green economy, shifts in\nthe employment structure, and intensifying global competition.<\/p>\n<p>In such a situation, she said, education for children is no longer\nenough to produce graduates who merely complete formal schooling; it\nmust shape Indonesians with critical thinking skills, digital literacy,\ncreativity, collaborative ability, strong character, and readiness for\nlifelong learning.<\/p>\n<p>In her view, education reform must shift from an administrative\norientation towards building the quality of human resources as the main\nnational development strategy. This, she said, requires a major\ncommitment from the state to ensure that education programmes always\nreceive priority.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, building excellent human resources must start from\nchildren\u2019s education. Because education is the basic capital of national\ndevelopment,\u201d she said.<\/p>",
