The Constitutional Court (MK) has proposed an additional budget of\nRp67 billion for 2027, bringing its total funding requirement to Rp427.8\nbillion.<\/p>\n
The proposal was presented during a working meeting and public\nhearing with House of Representatives (DPR RI) Commission III at the\nparliamentary complex in Jakarta on Monday.<\/p>\n
MK Secretary-General Heru Setiawan said the proposal was a follow-up\nto the outcome of a working meeting and public hearing with Commission\nIII on 15 June 2026.<\/p>\n
According to him, during that meeting the MK obtained approval to\npropose an additional budget beyond the ceiling set by the Ministry of\nFinance of Rp360.8 billion.<\/p>\n
\u201cFollowing up on this, the MK has submitted a letter requesting an\nadditional Rp67 billion,\u201d said Heru.<\/p>\n
He detailed that the additional budget includes an allocation of Rp45\nbillion for case handling programmes, including international\ncooperation in the fields of law and constitutional affairs,\ninternational conferences, technical guidance on litigation practice at\nthe MK, and efforts to enhance constitutional awareness.<\/p>\n
In addition, Rp21.8 billion is allocated for strengthening\nanti-corruption culture and integrity, procuring videotron displays for\ncourtrooms, renovating MK buildings in Jakarta and Bekasi, and procuring\nand revitalising various supporting facilities.<\/p>\n
These facilities include ambulances, generator sets, polyclinic\nequipment, CCTV systems, printers, laptops, multimedia devices, remote\ntrial cameras, air conditioning for the central data server, and\ninformation technology infrastructure.<\/p>\n
\u201cThus, the total additional budget we are requesting is Rp67 billion,\nso that the overall budget requirement of the Constitutional Court, if\napproved, would become Rp427.8 billion,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Commission III member Andar Amin Harahap expressed support for the\nproposed budget increase.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis Rp67 billion seems small. But since it has been proposed as\nsuch, we will fully support it,\u201d said Andar.<\/p>\n
In the meeting\u2019s conclusions, Commission III accepted the MK\nSecretary-General\u2019s explanation regarding the 2027 budget ceiling set by\nthe Ministry of Finance at Rp360.8 billion.<\/p>\n
